Visual Literacy Response

I appreciated this statement, “Images are a universal language,” made by Brain Kennedy during his TedTalk titled Visual Literacy: Why We Need It. This quote made me think about all of the ways we communicate and express our emotions visually. For example dancers have to evoke emotion using their body movements and facial expressions. Visuals can be understood by everyone all over the world despite language barriers. The use of visuals creates better global understanding across the world. Two people from opposite sides of the world can watch a ballerina dance and both be able to understand the emotions and story the dancer is expressing. I already knew that visuals are a way to communicate with people who speak different languages or are from other parts of the world but I never thought of how important it was. Visuals help us understand each other better when we cannot communicate with speech or letters. It is important to have a good understanding of visual literacy to communicate with others globally.
