Bio
Ava Salts is 19 years old and was born in Toledo, Ohio. She is a marketing major and is working towards her graphic design certificate. With her degree Ava hopes to become a social media manager or digital marketer. Ava will receive her bachelor's degree in the spring of 2026 from The University of Toledo. Ava currenlty runs the Instagram and Facebook page for the University of Toledo Early Learning Center. In high school has took many art classes including fundamentals of art, drawing, painting, ceramics and digital art. Ava's favorite medias of art are graphic design, photography and drawing.
Artist Statement
I have always loved drawing and painting from a young age and those have been my favorite media for years now. Throughout my life I would go in and out of different media I liked working with such as pottery or pastels but drawing and painting have always been a constant interest for me. More recently I have started to experiment more with digital art and graphic design. I took a digital art class my senior year of high school which sparked my interest in the media. Graphic design quickly became one of my favorite mediums to work with. I am currently working towards receiving my graphic design certificate and am expected to get it at the end of my sophomore year in May of 2024.
I enjoy creating art which reminds me of things that make me happy. I get a lot of my inspiration from nature and animals. I have always loved being outdoors camping and hiking. I adore animals and they are one of my favorite things to draw. I love drawing my friends and family's pets. One of my favorite pieces I have made is a white chalk drawing on black paper of my aunt's miniature donkey. I also get inspiration from the places I have traveled. Some of the places I have traveled to include Tennessee, Chicago, Florida, Georgia and New York City. I enjoy taking pictures capturing the moment, and taking in the beauty of the place I am visiting. I would describe my style as calm, delicate, and graceful.
I have started creating more with photography and photo editing. At the end of my junior year and through my senior year of high school I modeled for a photographer in Toledo Ohio. Through this experience I learned a lot about photography and photo editing which inspired me to start taking pictures of my own. I would like to explore concert photography more because I love live music and go to concerts regularly. I get inspiration from photographers that photograph for some of my favorite artists and other concert photographers I see on social media.
