Sound Artist

I chose LINES because I thought it was a creative idea to make the piece interactive. I thought it was interesting that it requires you to move your body in different ways to create noise. I feel that it adds another way to get creative and makes it more fun. I also feel that it makes it more of a full body experience. The piece allows everyone to express themselves and make their own unique sounds that are not going to sound the same as what any other person creates. I think that anything that a person creates that evokes thought and caters to our senses is considered art. Sound caterers to our sense of hearing. For example when we are listening to music it has the ability to make us feel a certain way. The same can be said with experimental soundscapes although it can be more difficult to understand these emotions of the story behind the soundscape at first compared to popular music. Sound caters to our hearing compared to our vision like other forms of art do. This means that we are going to take in and understand the piece in a different way than if it were a visual piece of art. We may even close our eyes to allow us to focus better on the sounds we are hearing. We may have to think more about the concept or idea of the piece because it is not right there for us to look at. Although we have to take in the art in different ways, in the end both visual and sound art are trying to evoke our emotions and get a point or idea across to the viewer or listener.
